Ruth D. Stalker

Castleton- Ruth D. Stalker, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Albany, Ruth was the daughter of the late James and Ruth Johnson. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald C. Stalker, with whom she shared many years of love.

A lifelong member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Castleton, Ruth's faith was an important part of her life. She was known for her generous spirit, kind heart, selfless nature, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, church, and community. Ruth took great pride in being an active member of the Castleton community and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Ruth found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved and creating lasting memories with family and friends. She enjoyed camping trips, visits to Foxwoods Casino, working on puzzles, and relaxing with her favorite Hallmark movies.

Ruth's legacy of kindness, generosity, faith, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents; James and Ruth Johnson; her husband, Gerald C. Stalker; her siblings, James Johnson, June Diamond, and Lawrence Johnson.

Ruth is survived by her children, Brenda (John) Nixon and James (Sarah) Stalker; her grandchildren, Erin (Brandon), Brendan (Bessie), Aidan (Alexandria), Kerrigan, and Gerald; her great-grandson, Blake; her sister, Helen Lewis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ruth's family from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Castleton Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave. Castleton, NY 12033. Ruth's funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1583 Carney Rd. Castleton, NY 12033. Interment will immediately follow at Horizon View Cemetery, Brookview Station Rd. Castleton, NY 12033.

Ruth wished that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Castleton Ambulance, Anchor Food Pantry, or St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
