Barnhart, Roger H.

Albany-Roger H. Barnhart age 80 born October 27, 1935 passed peacefully surrounded by his family on February 24, 2016, while under the kind care of St. Peter’s Community Hospice. He was a devoted husband, loving father, giving grandfather, and a caring friend.

Roger served his country in the United States Marines from 1953 to 1957. He then made a living as a building materials salesmen in the Hudson Valley.

His life enjoyments included Siena Basketball games, golfing with friends, working in the garden and spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceding Roger in death were his parents Harry and Victoria Barnhart and his son Roger.

Surviving family members are his loving wife of 58 years, Margie, his children Kelly (Michael) Nelson of Clifton Park, Bridget (Michael) Sykes of Wilmington, North Carolina and William (Jennifer) Barnhart of Athens. Roger is also survived by his seven grandchildren Sarah and Abigail Barnhart, Michael William Abele, Jack Nelson, Michael and Samantha Sykes and Luke Barnhart. He is also survived by his brother Christi (Patricia) Barnhart.

Memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Roger Barnhart may be made to the LUNGevity Foundation c/o Breathe Deep Albany, Team Barnhart, 228 Wabash Ave., Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60657.
