Schroder, Raymond J. (Tubie)

Castleton-Raymond J. (Tubie) Schroder, 93, of Latham, formerly a longtime Castleton resident, passed on Monday December 9, 2013 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Schroder and was also predeceased by brothers Charles and Leslie. Ray moved to Castleton as a child and graduated from Castleton High School. He was an US Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe. He was the manager of the Castleton Little League Red Sox for many years. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and horseshoes until in his mid 80’s when he said he was too old for these young men’s games. Ray was a NY Giants, NY Rangers and Boston Red Sox fan.
Ray was the husband of 60 years to the late Jean Lilkas Schroder; he is survived by sons Frederick, Bruce (Kathy), David (Linda) and daughter Susan (Ken) Yates; grandchildren Amy, Erin, Monica, Jennifer, Sean and best pals Rebecca and Sarah; and 6 great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be at 12 noon Saturday December 14, 2013 at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home from 11 am to 12 noon before the service. Interment, Sacred Heart Cemetery.
