Garafalo(Lasher), Phyllis A.

Castleton- On June 10,2013, after 71 years of love, happiness and devotion to family, Phyllis A. Garafalo passed away following a sudden cardiac arrest. Phyllis graduated from St. John's in Rensselaer, NY and was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church. Phyllis always put her family and friends above herself. Phyllis was very generous. She spent many hours in the kitchen where it brought her great joy to cook for her family and friends. Phyllis was extremely proud of her Italian heritage and was also known for baking her Italian cookies. She always spoke of how much she loved to dance and was the first one on the dance floor when given the opportunity. She loved to travel and took numerous trips to places such as Italy, Greece and the Caribbean, but nothing made her happier than spending time with her family during the holidays. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Helen Garafalo, sister Frances Bridenbeck, and brother in law Marvin Lasher. She will be lovingly remembered by her only brother Ralph Garafalo, her children, JR (Angela) Lasher, Michele Beckmann, Justine (Michael) Gummer, Christopher (Dawn) Lasher, grandchildren, Justina, Brittany, Haydn, Cassondre, Alena, Dane, Gia and Domenic, great-grandchildren, Evan, Javier, Lailah and Natalya, sister in law Gloria Lasher, several nieces and nephews and dear friends Fay Petrocelli and Shirley Parham.
A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday June 14, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist/St. Joseph Parish, 50 Herrick St., Rensselaer, NY. Relatives and Friends are invited and may call Thursday from 4-8 pm at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Phyllis’s name may be made to Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
