Castleton-On April 2, 2013, after 73 years of love, happiness and devotion to family, Marvin F. Lasher passed away following a sudden cardiac arrest. Marv graduated from Maple High School in Castleton and attended SUNY Albany. He served his country in the Navy and later joined the NY State Police in 1966 and retired after 20 years of service. Marv was an avid reader and history buff, loved fishing, hunting, traveling, gardening and antiquing. He was creative and loved the home he built and was always constructing something new. He had a playful spirit, adventure for life and love of family and friends. He was known for being a prankster and his antics and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. Marv was married to Gloria Van Auken and celebrated 44 years of marriage last year cruising the Caribbean. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Lillian (Warman) and is lovingly remembered by his brother Ronald (Helen) Lasher of Castleton, sisters Joan (Earl) Johnson of Caroga Lake and Jean (late Ray) Britton of Westerlo. He is also survived by his nieces Michele Beckmann, Justine (Michael) Gummer, Monica Heisert, Elaine (Toby) Nevins and nephews JR (Angela) Lasher and Christopher (Dawn) Lasher, and many great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family Phyllis (Garafalo) Lasher of Castleton and good friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday April 8, 2013 at Sacred Heart Church, 3 Catholic Way, Castleton, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton on Sunday from 4-8 pm
