Watervliet-On June 18th, 2016, Louise B. Reickert passed away peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Louise was born to Ludwig and Mina (Bauer) Schaefer in Queens, N.Y. on April 9, 1943.

While a teenager, Louise moved to Glenmont and she graduated from Bethlehem High School. After her marriage, Louise lived in Schodack for nearly forty years. At the time of her death, Louise was a resident of Shaker Pointe at Carondelet.

Louise held a number of part time and night time jobs while raising her children. Later in her life, Louise worked full time in the Claims Dept. at Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Louise was very proud of her children and grandchildren and when capable, she rarely missed a school or athletic event or recital.

Louise enjoyed trips to Lake George, bowling, reading, crocheting and playing Pinochle and Scrabble.

Louise was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, William G. Reickert, her parents and her siblings.

Louise is survived by her children, W. Michael Reickert (Kelly), Lori Kelley (Jim) and Marci Brunner (Adam). She was the proud Oma to Alysia Brunner, Alexa Reickert, Keara Kelley, Andrew Brunner, Julia Reickert and Jacob Kelley. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family extends a sincere thank you to the Albany County Hospice and to the many aides at Heaven’s Lil Angels.

Her funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday June 22, 2016 in Ray Funeral Home 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY. Burial will follow in Horizon View Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday 5-8 pm.
