Sukup, Joseph E. “Joe”

Schodack Landing-Joseph E. “Joe” Sukup, 91, passed away Thursday December 17, 2015. Joe was a lifelong Schodack Landing resident, a World War II Navy veteran and the 1959 NASCAR midget champion. He was a member of ACOT and NESCOT. He was an avid Jeff Gordon fan, loved to fish, enjoyed birdwatching from his hot tub and most of all loved Sunday morning breakfast with his family. His family meant everything to him and above all he loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years Arleen; his daughter, Linda (Kenneth) Golden; a son, Daniel Sukup; his brother, John Sukup; his former wife, Vera Van Wormer; grandchildren, Kevin (Sheila) Golden, Kristina Macyowskie, Scott Sukup, Shawn Sukup; great granchildren, Derrick Golden, Kerry Golden, Stephen Macyowskie and Skylar Macyowskie; a niece and nephews.

Joe was predeceased by his son David Sukup and his siblings Richard Sukup and Mary McDowell.

Calling hours will be Sunday December 20, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in the name of Joseph “Joe” Sukup may be made to the Castleton Ambulance, 1700 Brookview Rd., Castleton, NY 12033.
