Rappold, Joseph P., Sr.

Castleton-Joseph P. Rappold, Sr., 66, passed unexpectedly on Monday May 27, 2013 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Paul and Hermina (Septer) Rappold and was also predeceased by a brother, Don Rappold. A graduate of Maple Hill High School, he was employed for many years as the Director of weights and measures for Rensselaer County. He was a member of the Van Rensselaer Masonic Lodge #87 in East Greenbush and also belonged to the Castleton Fish & Game Club. Joe’s family and friends were the center of his life.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Albany Med. for all their efforts on Joe’s behalf.
Joe is survived by his wife, Judith Rappold; sons, Joseph Rappold, Jr., Bryan Rappold, Carl (Amber) Melius, A.J. Franz and Garrett (Amanda) Rappold; daughter, Angel (Tony) Caponigro; grandchildren, Joelle, True, Jonah, Aiden and Ava; sister-in-law, Esther; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY, Thursday May 30, 2013 from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
