Mann, Helen Marie

Castleton-Helen Marie Mann, born December 21, 1918, died November 5, 2015. Daughter of William J. Mann and A. Margaret Dorn. Sister of the late Eleanor (Edward) Bennett and W. Howard Mann. Survived by nephews and nieces: Richard (Carol) Bennett, Rockford, IL; Wayne (Patricia) Bennett, Clifton Park; Jean (J. David) Kaercher, Latham; Kay Bennett (Edmund Prescottano), Medfield, MA.

Helen was a graduate of Castleton High School and worked for The A&P Tea Company for six years followed by over thirty years as an employee of New York State. In 1946 she joined the N.Y. State Teachers’ Retirement System where she worked until her retirement in 1975 when she was honored for her dedicated years of service.

Helen lived on her parents’ Castleton farm for many years. Following retirement, she moved to Florida for ten years with her brother. During the last twenty years of her life, Helen lived at the Beltrone Living Center in Colonie with her sister, and Eddy facilities in Troy and Cohoes. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Castleton while residing locally.

The family thanks the staff of Eddy Village Green, House #2, Cohoes, for their compassionate care, especially during Helen’s last weeks of life. Donations in Helen's memory may be sent to a charity of one's choice.

Helen's funeral service will be held at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Avenue, Castleton, Saturday, November 21, 10 AM, with Rev. Vernon A. Victorson officiating. A calling hour will precede the service. Private interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
