Castleton-On July 5th, 2016, God called one of his most special angels home. Greta Forest passed away peacefully at 77 from complications due to cancer.

Greta was a beloved mother, wife, sister and friend. She was the heart and soul of her family, and her humor, strength and grace were a light to those around her. She will walk in heaven with those that have passed, including her husband William L Forest and her sister, Agnes Powers. Greta is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth De Francesco of Selkirk, NY and Lois Leonard of Dallas, TX. Greta’s love will forever be in the hearts of her three daughters, Patty Racz and husband Michael Racz of Castleton, Carolyn Wescott and husband Grant Wescott of Castleton, and Cathy Forest and husband Steven Matthews of Cohasset, MA. She was a proud and caring grandmother to Jessica Sutton Cafarelli, Christopher Sutton, Stephanie Racz, Anna Racz, Aubrey Racz, Sophie Matthews and Emma Matthews. Greta was also a devoted communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a friend to many.

Calling hours will be on Friday July 8th from 4-7 pm at Ray’s Funeral Home in Castleton. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church in Castleton. Donations in her name can be made to the Capital City Rescue Mission, PO Box 1999, Albany, NY 12201.
