Utica, NY-Gerrit Van Nederynen, 84, died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Utica on Monday February 25, 2013. Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and Hendricka Van Nederynen. Gerrit was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Troy. He was also a member of the New Hartford Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Evelyn Helligrass Van Nederynen; daughters, Kathy (Tim) LaGrow, Nancy (John) Henderson; son, Garry (Kathy) Van Nederynen; brother, Albert Van Nederynen; sister, Louise Atteridg; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 am Thursday March 7, 2013 at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton, NY. A service will follow soon after. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
