East Greenbush-Franklin H. Bridenbeck, 84, of East Greenbush, formerly of Castleton, died after a long illness Friday June 6, 2014 in Albany Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Franklin was the husband of the late Joan Coffey Bridenbeck. He is survived by daughters Pamela (Ron) Greenough and Denise (Jeff) Snyder, both of Castleton; brother Chester Bridenbeck; grandchildren Arron (Lindsey) Greenough, Courtney Greenough; great grandchild Aiddon; and loving companion Elizabeth Laczynski. He was predeceased by his brother Lee Bridenbeck and brother-in-law Brad Coffey.

Franklin served in the US Army for 20 years, fighting in the Korean War and two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning many awards and citations including the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He loved life, his family and friends, and walking on the beach at his favorite place, Ogunquit, ME.

Calling hours will be 4-7 pm Wednesday June 11, 2014 in Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Ave., Castleton. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 3 pm Thursday June 12, 2014 at Horizonview Cemetery, Brookview Station Rd., Castleton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Peter Andrews Castleton VFW Post #7337, P.O. Box 22, Castleton, NY 12033 or the Mohawk Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204-2718.
