Stuyvesant- David P. Toutain, 71, passed after a long illness on Thursday, May 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Manchester, New Hampshire to the late Yvette (Michaud) and Andrew Oscar Toutain on September 3, 1952. David was bilingual speaking French in the home and at school until first grade, and then French and English afterwards. In high school, he participated in the debate team and in the youth orchestra of Manchester. He got his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of New Hampshire. He was the bass player in the band "King's Crossing," which had the honor of opening for Aerosmith. He then became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the early 1980s. After briefly working as a banker, he pursued a career as a quality assurance manager at biomedical companies. In 1999, he married his loving and devoted wife Debra, who cared for him for the next 25 years. He served as a ministerial servant and elder in his congregation and took his volunteer ministry very seriously, even during his many years of poor health.
He was predeceased by his sisters Murielle, Pauline, and Vivienne. He is survived by his wife Debra Van Vlack Toutain, his daughter Kim Marie (Robert) Westerfield, his son Andrew (Christine) Toutain, his son Jeremy Toutain, and his daughter Michelle Toutain. He is also survived by his three stepchildren Joshua (Heidi) Lapo, Naomi (Mark) King, and Zach (Laura) Lapo. David was the proud grandfather of his very special, sole grandchild Hannah Rose Lapo. He also loved being the uncle to all of his nieces and nephews, especially his two dear grandnieces Annalise and Savannah.Services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1169 US Route 9 Castleton, NY 12033.
