Castleton-Brad Avery, age 72, died unexpectedly due to complications from surgery on September 14th.

Brad grew up in Chatham, NY and lived in Troy for many years. He has lived in Castleton for the last 15 years. He was a member of VFW and the Castleton Fire Department. Brad served in the US Navy for 10 years and, thereafter, he served in the Reserves with the Air National Guard in Scotia. He worked for John R Mott Trucking as well. He was currently semi-retired and working at the Schodack Island State Park.

Brad is survived by his wife, Janice, his sons, Brad and Eric Avery, his daughters, Vicki (Valenti) Cinella, Zaza Desiree Petersen and his brother Harry. He is also survived by Janice’s daughters Kelley Jewett and Katey and Karley Delaney. He had 12 grandchildren.

In lieu of formal services, please join us at the Schodack Island State Park just off of 9J at 1 Schodack Island Way, Schodack Landing, NY on Saturday, Sept. 27th beginning at 1:00 p.m. for a celebration of Brad’s life. We look forward to spending time with our family and friends and sharing our favorite stories and memories of Brad.
