Anthony Del Bene, 95, of Castleton, NY (formerly of Yorktown Heights and Yonkers, NY) passed away peacefully on June 29, 2015 at the Loudonville Home for Adults. Anthony was born on September 30, 1919, in Palena, Italy. He was predeceased by his parents, Emilia (Campana) and Salvatore Del Bene, and the love of his life, his wife Susan (Ianniello) Del Bene, with whom he spent 66 wonderful years. Anthony was also predeceased by his brother Nicole, his sister Maria, his brother Umberto, and his brother Gene.
He is survived by his children David (Lodi), Linda Rosenfeld (Dennis), Emilia Komaromi (William) and Geralyn Frank (Scot) and his grandchildren Elyse (Jeremy), Dennis (Jennifer), William (Marcela), Anthony, Suzanne, and Elizabeth, his step-grandson John, his step-great grandchildren Isabella, Lucas, and Katie, and his soon to be great-granddaughter Alina.
Anthony immigrated to Yonkers, New York from Palena, Italy in 1937, where he met his beloved Susan, fell in love, and raised his family. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII, and afterwards, honed his craft to open his own business as a master shoemaker and retailer in Riverdale, NY. When not working, you could find Anthony content at home tending to his vegetable garden, especially his fig trees and tomatoes, or sharing a magnificent glass of home-made wine with family and friends. During his golden years, Anthony was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren, enriching them with their family history and stories about his younger days, and always willing to share his great wisdom about life. He was a devout Yankees fan and he had the kind of old-fashioned ingenuity to fix anything - he was truly a master of invention!
Anthony’s family is thankful for the care he received over the past year at the Loudonville Home for Adults.
