CASTLETON, NY - MaryAnn (Brewer) Prince, 86, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. She was born May 23, 1934, in Houlton, ME, the daughter of Clarence “Chunk” and Leitha “Tootie” (Tompkins) Brewer. MaryAnn grew up in both Houlton and Castleton, and graduated from Houlton High School in 1950. On August 6, 1950, she married Frank Prince and together they would share forty-three years of marriage until his passing in 1993. Once her children reached school age, MaryAnn joined the workforce at Fort Orange Paper Company, where she continued until her grandchildren started arriving and she began her ultimate role of Grandmother. MaryAnn enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, traveling, and especially lending a helping hand to those in need. She and Frank were dedicated members of Emmanuel Reformed Church and were instrumental in the planning, fundraising and building of the “new” location. MaryAnn was a kind, caring, honest, and heartfelt woman, who always could be counted on by friends and family. She loved her family very much and treasured the time they spent together. She is survived by four children; Steven of Edgemoor, SC, Jayne Robinson and her husband, Jerry of Castleton, Jeffrey and his wife, Fay of Niverville and James of Castleton; five grandchildren; David (David), Bonnie(Tom), Gordon (Monica), Christopher and Scott (Carolyn); three great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Natalie and Molly; and two honorary grandsons, Michael (Wendi) and Stephen (Rebecca)Wiley. She also leaves behind four siblings; Carol, Donald (Betty), Susan and Clarence “Tiger” (Deborah), sister-in-law Judy Brewer and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Prince; her son, Lawrence A. Prince, her siblings; Claire “Edward” Brewer and Michael Brewer. MaryAnn’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to caregivers, Joyce, Wendy and Verna, along with special friends Sue and Arline.
A “celebration of life” service will take place May 22nd, more details to follow.
